Droplets

The sun came out for a brief minute, and shone brightly on some freshly rained-on leaves.

If I am working at home I make sure to get out of the house once or twice during the day - usually some time in the garden, and another time for a walk.

Today’s morning walk was lovely, I met a lot of people walking their dogs. It is quite odd - some days of the week I see 1 or 2 people on a 35 minute walk, other days it is 20-30! Some times it is quiet and other times busy, but the timing and the day of the week seem to have no correlation on how busy it is. Today’s walk around 7am was super super busy!

I purposefully didn’t take my camera this time, just because the threat of rain was looming, and I have a pocket big enough for a phone. There were some interesting goings-on; one of the willow bushes near the river seems to have been infested with eggs; after looking this up it’s the Willow Redgall Sawfly, where the fly lays eggs on the willow leaf, and as they grow, a red gall forms on the willow leaf!

Sometimes the local heron can be found perched in a tree or on a tree stump, or fishing in the river. No herons or egrets today, but plenty of woodpigeons, blackbirds, robins, magpies and sparrows. The swifts have left; they no longer swoop and scream in the early mornings and humid evenings.

This picture was from the end of the walk, where a line of hedgerow grows, with various different bush species growing together.

Today’s work was a long day, some good plans have been made for Friday in the office, some interesting things will be happening after work potentially, and another long day tomorrow with two appointments in, to work through before then!
