Black Mixen

Big walk today. We drove west for half an hour to the Radnor Forest and tackled three very misty summits. First up was Bryn Bache which has the dubious privilege of being the lowest mountain in Wales. Its just 26cm above the benchmark height (2,000 feet/609.6m). From Bryn Bache we worked our way through heather covered hillsides to reach Black Mixen (Y Domen Ddu) and then on to the conical shaped Whimble. Although the lowest of the three it was the steepest climb but there were masses of cowberries, crowberries and whin berries to keep us going. My blip today is from Black Mixen looking down Harley Dingle and the Radnor Ranges weapons testing site towards the slopes of the Great Rhos. Already planning another trip to the same location for next week.
