A day on the farm
I have slight polytunnel envy now, but it was good to have somewhere undercover to work with the intermittent rain through the day. We were sorting and prepping the chrysanthemums for planting out tomorrow. In the gaps between the rain and when my back allowed we were prepping the beds ready to plant them out. It is easy digging and lovely soil that has been harrowed, but the perennial weed roots need removing. I had an assistant for this jobs. She is very good at digging, but not as good at collecting the weed roots, sometimes removing them from the bucket instead.
There is an outside loo for the workers, currently just a camping toilet, but it will be a proper earth closet with a view once finished.
The flowers in the middle are a cover crop, but it is buzzing with insects of all sorts and the sunflowers are all coming into bloom. It will be beautiful in the next week or so.
