Ar fy ffordd yn ôl o Gymraeg rydw i'n cerdded heibio Gorsaf Coryton a heddiw roeddwn i'n hapus i weld trên yno. Rydw i'n meddwl bod gwasanaeth trafnidiaeth gyhoeddus dda yn arwydd o wareiddiad. Basai trafnidiaeth gyhoeddus am ddim yn well, wrth gwrs, efallai un dydd.

Cyn 'Beeching' roedd y llinell yn arfer parhau i Dongwynlais a thu hwnt ond nawr mae Coryton yw'r derfynfa. Rydyn ni'n ffodus i gael Coryton fel y cynigiwyd ei gau ym 1963.

Y dyddiau hyn mae'r llywodraeth Cymru yn buddsoddi mwy yn y rheilffyrdd, gyda thrydaneiddio a threnau newydd. I fi mae'n gydnabyddiaeth bod 'Beeching' oedd camgymeriad ac mae rhaid i ni geisio i wneud mwy gyda thrafnidiaeth gyhoeddus.

On my way back from Welsh I walk past Coryton Station and today I was happy to see a train there. I think a good public transport service is a sign of civilization. Free public transport would be better, of course, maybe one day.

Before 'Beeching' the line used to continue to Dongwynlais and beyond but now Coryton is the terminus. We are lucky to have Coryton as it was proposed to close in 1963.

These days the Welsh government is investing more in the railways, with electrification and new trains. For me it is an acknowledgment that 'Beeching' was a mistake and we must try to do more with public transport.
