Look both ways
A very appropriate message at the pedestrian crossing facing the Royal Courts of Justice where judges look at conflicting stories, decide which is correct and then apply the relevant law in deciding the cases. Both sides have to be fairly and evenly considered to arrive at a factually and legally reasoned judgment.
I shall be at and around the RCJ all this week as I am accompanying a family friend's young daughter, E, who is staying with us for the week, to and fro to the Courts for a week' s work placement. We are met on arrival by the placement host and I then find things to occupy myself until she is finished for the day and it's time to head back to Waterloo.
Today I sat in at the Permission hearing on Palestine Action' application for judicial review of the government's decision to proscribe the organisation. Very interesting to hear the arguments in play from both sides. Mr Justice Chamberlain will give judgment on 30 July.
