Nant Gwrtheyrn

FRIDAY

The first day of a short break on the Llŷn Peninsula.

We’re staying in Pen Llŷn, but stopped off at the Welsh Language Centre at Nant Gwrtheyrn on the way. The road down to this isolated centre is so steep it feels like a roller coaster ride. This remote settlement has been occupied since 150 BC, though the current buildings—now used as accommodation—were built in the 19th century for quarry workers.

The Café Meinir at the centre serves excellent food and has a lovely terrace overlooking the bay (main blip).

After checking in at our accommodation, we headed over to Aberdaron to check out the starting point for tomorrow’s trip and enjoy dinner at Gwesty Tŷ Newydd.
