found several individuals near the end of their one week mating period. This one was still alive but extremely weak.

These are from the family Saturnaiidae which includes giant silkworm moths, Io moths and Cercropia moths for a total of approx 2300 species. In general the Saturnaiids are in decline due to pesticides, halogen street lights and loss of habitat
