Sun and music
It's been another gorgeous day of sun and heat. I love it personally, like everyone else, I have to adapt to the heat and make life move a bit slower.
The morning was used for playing, keeping my hands and fingers alive and well and my brain for remembering lyrics, which it is surprisingly bad at doing. I can't really understand why. Words means a lot to me, specially the meaning of words, as in song lyrics. I sing the songs I like but why doesn't the lyrics stick? I've had friends that never seems to miss a line, play the wrong chord or fumble with the strings. Not me, I do all of that -and rehearse a lot to get better at it. My only defence is that I use A LOT of repertoar, from classical music to singing simple songs in my repertoar, it would be impossible to remember every detail. Or? Have you any tips for me?
During the evening I went to this concert in the nearby church, by this band playing well known tunes by Stevie Wonder, Bill Withers, Povel Ramel etc. with their own translations to swedish or their own lyrics. I know the guitarrist, Mats Norrefalk, from my days pre-music education where we both chose different paths to music teaching. He is now a "Summer-visitor" on Öland where he has a summer house in the north of the island. This time I will try to arrange a meeting where we can sit down and talk about our different experiences through life. I liked the concert, even though the sound was a bit overpowering.
After the concert I met up with my old neighbours in Skogsby for a get-together, cake and coffee, and even a beer for a few hours. I cycled home in the dusk around ten, in my thin shirt without freezing. I love these summer evenings.
