From Lancaster to Airton
The Great Stone of Fourstones – a piece of stone transported from far away by a glacier and left behind when the ice retreated 10,000 or more years ago.
We made a detour for it. It's not particularly spectacular, but it's surprising that such stones were left behind on the high plain. It's called the Four Stones, so there must have been three other large boulders.
Walking there was not appealing and would be very boggy. We continued cycling.
In Clapham we were exceptionally enthusiastic welcomed by the brand new owners of the brand new cycling café. Opened yesterday. Questions were asked, photos were taken, and our loaded bikes were examined. We felt a little embarrassed.
As we drove away, a photo was taken. They'd put a lot of effort into the advertising opportunity. Well, I'll give them a hand. Clapham, Paul Pedals, bikes & coffee. I wish them the best of luck. It's nice to have coffee with like-minded people.
