Kaka - NZ native parrot
There has been quite a large flock of them flying around over the last few weeks. They come from Maungatautari (Sanctuary Mountain) the fully fenced predator free bird sanctuary near us. They recently released some juveniles on the mountain so I think that's probably what we are seeing flying around. These two are in the neighbours orchard eating something under a walnut tree. Maybe a few walnuts still lying around.
They are very noisy birds so you know when they are coming and a flock of 20 or so all squawking at the same time is hard to ignore.
