Wild animal park
The annual lab day out. Up early doors to drop babe off at daycare. First time we've used it (only $30 for full 12 hours) and although she was nervous being left (she thinks its the vets) we could watch her on their webcam having a great time.
Then back to pick up people from the lab before heading north up to the park in Escondido for opening at 9am. On first safari tram of the day in order to see most active animals. It's bloody hot up there in the sheltered valleys.
Wild animal park was much better than I expected. Perhaps even better than the much acclaimed San Diego zoo. More of a safari park where you can see animals in their natural habitat. There were plenty to see and not so busy what with it being a Wednesday.
For lunch we went to a local brewery called stone. They have a huge modern bistro beer garden attached to their brewery with very nice (if pricey) food to accompany the drinks. The boss footed the bill all day which is one of his plus points. I was driving so couldn't partake in too much of the beer. But after lunch we went on the brewery tour which was very informative and ended with 4 tastings and a souvenir glass. I even picked up a bag of dog biscuits made from left over barley malt after they have done the brew.
Back to the park afterwards and people were very lethargic due to amount of food/alcohol consumed. Finished off a few things that we hadn't had chance to do in the morning.
Then as people were heading to the local winery (see a common theme here) I headed home to pick up a very tired babe who is currently zonked out on the couch. I have the pleasure of watching Chelsea villa which I didn't realise was on today and have managed to avoid the score. A thoroughly good day all round!
