Hatteras Island, NC

A view from the top of Body Lighthouse located on the Outer Banks in NC. Named for an area known as the Graveyard of the Atlantic because of numerous shipwrecks.
Hatteras Island area is located where the arctic Labrador Current and the Gulf Current meet. This exchange causes very rough seas and thick fog. The Lighthouses are located 40 miles apart each having different paint patterns for daylight identifying. I took a walk on the beach and found the waters very rough and rip tide warnings posted full time.
