Wide Awake Club

The grandsons arrived 11ish last night. Despite a very late bedtime I believe they were awake 6ish this morning.

They have been playing with the Scalextric which only comes out when they are here. Joe decided to set up a small circuit that he could sit in the middle of.

Rory on the other hand was more into crosswords and number puzzles. He has his own phone now. A basic one, just for emergencies. He walks to and from school on his own sometimes.

They both had excellent end of term reports - 'working at greater depth' ratings in everything.

They have gone off now with mum and dad to Chalfest, mainly to see Kula Shaker, daughter#1 is a huge fan.

We have been to Sainsbury's to get a few things that Ocado don't do. I had an £8 voucher which ran out today. We don't go very often as it is always a hassle. The self service tills never work properly for us so this time we did a SmartShop. The shop bit worked OK but the checkout was awful. All the checkouts were playing up and it took an age to get through. Ironically we noticed they have installed some manned tills now, you can't beat shopping and paying the old fashioned way with a real till human.

Update: just collected the boys from the festival - they'd had enough! The roads back were a bit narrow and scary. I don't understand why anyone would live in such a place!
