Thistle in the Pentland Hills
Given the fine weather forecast today, Mr hazelh and I decided to break our journey on the way to Bella and David's house with a walk in the Pentlands.
We parked in Nine Mile Burn, said a quick hello to nadinepierce, then headed uphill for four happy hours in the sunshine. We stopped a couple of times for drinks, to eat our picnic, and to admire the views. We also took an unexpected break when Mummy hazelh's oldest friend rang me in response to the letter I that wrote to her on Tuesday.
Bella and David welcomed us to their house with tea, homemade scones and cake. Fed and watered, our next priority was to get out of our sticky walking garb and shower (and - in my case - test a couple of lovely new Pentland Aromatics products).
After dinner we played Catan. Thanks to good placement opportunities at the start of the game, and very few early 7s thrown, I was tonight's lucky winner.
Unfortunately my not-so-little sister has to spend a second night in hospital.
I photographed the perfect thistle in my blip while we were high in the hills.
Exercise today: pilates class; walking (21,033 steps).
