Burros.
My younger daughter, partner and baby are staying for a week at a local hotel. Today I took them to the donkey sanctuary, armed with a bag of apples and a bag of carrots. They loved it and were amazed at how gentle the creatures are despite enormous teeth - they take offerings very carefully with their lips. There was also a magnificent black Menorcan horse behind a wall, which we thought was part of the establishment and happily fed too. Later a volunteer told us that the horse came every day at 9am, having walked 4 km from its farm, just to cadge treats from a spot it had created by breaking down hedges, and left promptly at noon when the sanctuary closed, to walk all the way home again.
