A 16-Pointer
This may be the same Stag from last week, or his partner, as they are nearly always seen together. This was in the middle of the day, hence the shadow from the antlers across his back. This is a mature red deer stag, known as a Monarch because of the number of tines being 16 or more.
If you look closely he is being pestered by flies around his head, probably because of the hormone secretions from glands just below the eye. Both stags are at a similar stage of development and while they are quite happy to graze together at the moment, this is less likely once the rut begins.
If you look closely you can see that the velvet, the membrane that covers the antlers during development, is beginning to be rubbed off, suggesting that the antler growth is finished.
