Wabi-Sabi

It feels like every day is an opportunity to learn new things and try out different photography techniques. Being fairly new to Blip, it is still a challenge to find a new photograph for each day.

I was watching a video by Teo Crawford for inspiration with my morning coffee today, and was struck by the concept that a photograph can still be beautiful even if it is not perfect.   Perhaps all the overexposed, wobbly, or odd captures also have beauty in them.

From another shoot in another video of Teo's, he used flash to capture a subject, but the background had a slight blur due to intentional camera movement in a forest, creating a dreamy-like gentle tree-scape view, but with the subject fully lit and still, due to the flash.

This led me to play around a little, and try a long exposure, to try and indicate a blurry, hot, sweaty day, with some haze and confusion. I have been staring at my coffee table for quite a long time today - I was in one meeting, waiting for the meeting to start, for 30 minutes, so I tried a few different movements with the camera. This one in particular looked ghostly.

The mug of tea, book and pens, were all witness to the unfruitful meetings!

As well as unfruitful meetings, today has meant the cancelling of weekend plans, due to people being unwell, and the weather due to be floody and thunderstormy!  I will have to find some different things to do this weekend instead - this is never a problem really, there is always something to do!

Wishing a good blip-weekend to all and sundry!
