Summertime
We went for a nice early morning walk around Lake Ralphine where the pedal boats were being readied for the day. The red sweatshirts are lifeguards and the turquoise ones work at the boathouse. Will and Peter both did that in the summer when they were in high school. We talked to a man who admired Spike's eyes and was amazed when we told him that they were prosthetic.
We stopped at Trail House for a coffee and sat outside since the weather is just about perfect. Crystal has been working hard to beautify what is a row of parking spaces which were turned into an outdoor dining areas during Covid. A row of sunflowers in pots has appeared and she said she was really excited when one of the sunflowers first bloomed. Now they are all blooming.
Back home, I did a few chores, made a couple more quilt blocks and threw Spike's Kong what seemed like 400 times. I contemplated doing some laundry but didn't do it. I thought about what to make for dinner and then decided to wait until dinnertime to do that. John made elaborate drawings of a string bean support and I suggested that perhaps it was just a tad bit over-engineered.
I have to have a small rant about how angry I am about the treatment of immigrants and LGBT and gender diverse people. Trump is throwing the power of his office and of the budget to essentially threaten cities and states to comply with his outrageous demands or have their funds withdrawn. He has already withdrawn funds which were already allocated by Congress for wildfire mitigation and educational programs for special needs students just because he doesn't like California. He is in a panic over the Epstein files, claims they are a Democratic hoax and that the 'investigation' into them is completed and the matter is now closed. I wonder what he is covering up? He is a vicious, cruel and insecure individual and I can only hope that the rift in the Republican party grows and that he will somehow be the author of his own undoing....
