Buff-tailed Bumble Bee

Busy doing what bees do best ..... gathering pollen.
There are many thistles in bloom round the Heritage Park loch and I think every one was occupied by a bee .... not really enough room for more than one bee per thistle head,

The acer in my front garden has needed a bit of pruning for some time. The lower branches are spreading too far over the pavement and they just had to be trimmed back .... secateurs were fine for the spindly branches.
