Babysitting Devs

My Dear Princess and Dear Fellow,

My job is ok. It doesn't require a lot from me. But it does seem to require a lot OF me.

I seem to spend a lot of my time babysitting developers. Who just CANNOT talk to each other, it seems.

Sometimes it's an email chain with me in the middle. "Symon, can you ask Matt..." "Matt says..." "No that won't work..." "Matt, Steve says that didn't work..."

MATT AND STEVE JUST EFFING TALK TO EACH OTHER WOULD YA?

I set up a meeting today and all the questions got sorted in 20 minutes.

Seriously. I feel like a couples counsellor for devs.

But they pay me anyway plus I don't really care.

Oooh, actually did I tell you that my agent says I've been getting good feedback? She said, "Ooh! They were raving about you!"

Now. Two things.

1. Agents can and do lie to big you up.
2. Seriously?! I feel like I've done eff-all of value!

However, look, I'm sensing extension in a relatively easy job where I barely have to break a sweat.

So I will continue to wipe developer bottoms and read them stories.

It pays the bills.

S.
