Found this guy hiding in the lavender.

I have to confess I have lost control of the front garden 
Of all the beds I have the one at the front was done first, probably a dozen years ago now. I made some mistakes, the worst being the use of wood chip as mulch rather than slate chippings which I have elsewhere.because of this and it's age the bed needs more attention,. I did not give it that attention this year 
In the early part of the year there is a reasonable display, especially all the self seeded lupins. When they have finished there is almost no colour at all and that is when you see the weeds and the bramble's.
I have spent several days trying to clear the worst, eight barrow loads taken out. It looks better now but very battered. It will recover but I think the whole lot will have to the dug up and started again. But that's for sometime in the future
