Out and About

St Andrews

A gentle day in St Andrews for me.  It was too hot to walk far.  Meanwhile Mr P, unfazed by the heat, walked 29km from Crail to 4km further on than  St Andrews where an ice cream stop awaited. I think he got the better scenery today with lots of cliff paths.

Blip is St Andrews ruined cathedral.   Used my English Heritage membership to get into the Castle as well and learned a lot about Scottish religious history in the visitor centre.

Collage in extras
○ Gregory's Meridian Line , in the pavement outside the old library. It's thought to be the first laid meridian line, pre-dating the Greenwich meridian by almost 200 years
○ A beautiful old bookshop  that sadly closed in 2023 after 150 years of trading
○ Welcome ice cream.  Cranachan flavour.
○ A view from the castle across St Andrews tidal pool to the cathedral
