Afternoon walk. Moor Hall Hotel.
I put the washing machine on at 7:00am, and it was ready to be hung out on the line after breakfast.
By lunchtime it was practically dry.
I did another 40 minutes of the usual exercises this morning and practised getting up from the ones which I do on the floor, (usually with my Pilates mat), without recourse to hanging on to a piece of furniture. I am now doing ok with that in readiness for rejoining the class in September.
After lunch we went off to our usual parking spot behind the hotel in a side road, in order to do the normal circuit with coffee stop.
I decided to forgo the crutch for once.
I found it a bit difficult at first as the pavement on the first bit is slightly sloping down to the gutter, and wondered if I would be able to do the longer return from the Farmhouse Bistro down through the Moor Hall Estate.
After we’d had a coffee (me) and a pure orange, (him) I decided to try this longer route back to the car.
Once we set off I realised that for the very first time, it felt like I was walking normally!
I can’t begin to describe how great that felt!
I wanted to celebrate!
Anyway by the time we were back at the car, it had been far enough and I’m recording this as another big milestone. The longer return route is just about three quarters of a mile.
The icecream man who comes twice week and parks outside school had asked Stephen yesterday if he could park our car in one of the parking spaces across the road, so when he arrived about 1:30pm he would be sure of a spot. He arrived and knocked on our front door. Stephen put our car back on the drive and he then parked his icecream van.
“It’s Parents’ Evening” he said “and there will be loads of cars coming and going.”
He gave Stephen two free icecreams as a Thankyou!
Stephen took a photo of me eating mine! I felt like it was a celebration of another bit of a milestone in my hip recovery journey! (Photo in extras!)
Traffic on our road has got worse lately in school time. A traffic officer has been up this week patrolling as parents park on the Keep Clear notices on the road, and on pavements and even on double white lines, which is No Parking at at All!
Most schools around here have the same problem.
It’s hard to remember that it rained yesterday and was a tad chilly, as I write this sitting at the patio table in snatches of warm sunshine.
We will be out this evening with the group of folk from our church “small group” for a meal.
Last time we met we sat out here in the garden.
It has certainly been a real summer so far this year.
