A very full day
I was up very early so that I could go to photograph Arctic terns before breakfast. There is a large colony near to our hotel. I took the precaution of wearing a hat to avoid being injured.
They shout loudly, then take it turn (!) to dive bomb, swerving away at the last moment. I have added a photo for you to experience this.
I need much more practice of bird photography. Just towards the end of my time, I felt a plop land on my shoulder. This was my last clean shirt….
You have to laugh.
We visited the wonderful ice lagoon, then an information centre for lunch, then walked up to a glacier, then the ice beach, where icebergs are scattered around.
I have also enjoyed wonderful wild flowers today, especially Grass of Parnassus. A few of the plants also grow in Upper Teesdale.
I’m not thrilled with most of my images; I’m still learning how to record some situations in a meaningful way.
After 2 hours on the ice beach, I felt chilly at last, but the temperatures have continued to be high.
I had a comment today on an old photo from IsabelSheila who has just joined Blipfoto. https://www.blipfoto.com/entry/3204891754041967638
It’s fascinating how connections are made.
