Another lovely fern
I wasn't looking forward to today as the forecast was for rain, thunder and lightning. It was certainly wet this morning and was still raining when we left at 1pm to drive along to Poppies garden centre for my birthday lunch. For some reason I always have the same thing - maybe we should try somewhere else - and the tables are a bit sticky too! It is handy though, barely ten minutes drive away and has a good selection of plants too!
Settled down to the last of my London photographs this afternoon - that's the whole lot completed and whittled down to 425. Not bad for a week! Now I have to begin again and title them all!
Typically, of course, the rain has stopped and the sun is attempting to pop out. No sign of a thunderstorm yet! I've been out to see if there's anything looking good enough for a Blip and decided on this fern. It's Woodwardia unigemmata, a potentially large evergreen fern from high rainfall area in the Himalayas, China, Japan and the Philippines. It seem quite happy here and produces beautiful red new fronds in the spring and summer.
