Trophy Hunter

Apologies for the midweek football blip so early in the season, but the League 1 Play Off Final Trophy which Yeovil won back in May (as seen here) is on a tour of the area and reached Street today.

It seems a little unfair that we received this trophy: the League Champions quite rightly win a trophy for coming first but the team that came second don't receive one at all whereas the side that win the Play-Off competition between the teams coming 3rd to 6th, and so earn promotion to the higher league along with the first and second placed teams (in this case us), get to keep this for a year. I suppose the League need to have a trophy to award as a climax to the razzmatazz of the Final at Wembley.

As well as giving fans like me a chance to see the Trophy close up, I suspect the intention is to encourage even more people to attend, especially with 3 home games coming up next week, starting with Derby County on Saturday, although in fact we had a nearly capacity crowd for the first and only home game so far.

A swim, a haircut, bread baking and shopping have been the order of the day.

PS. Spot the teletubbie!
