Whirlwind of fun...
The morning was spent getting organised for a visit from our friends Dave and Kirsty, their three year old son Jack and three month old son Alfie.
Jack is a typical three year old, a bundle of energy and full of curiosity. We made the garden room Jack-proof removing breakable items at his height as there's nothing worse than being the parent of a curious toddler in a house full of breakable things :-) In the end we needn't have bothered as it was such a lovely day, we spent all of their visit outside in the garden.
It was so lovely to have lunch outside, Alfie snoozing in his pram, Jack with his tent and paddling pool and not at all phased by Lola. They were as boisterous as each other! My blip shows Jack inviting Lola into his tent. Lola was more interested in the plastic toys scattered around outside it! D had to rescue one or two from her mouth!
Alfie was a wee angel. He woke to be fed and the Gin Palace provided a cool space for that to happen then I got lots of cuddles. Such a contented wee thing and so much better since having his tongue tie sorted. Finally all the family are getting some sleep.
Handed over gifts for the boys. When Jack was born I crocheted him a blanket so had to do the same for Alfie. It felt strange to be handing over a warm blanket on such a hot day :-) Jack was delighted with his racing cars and book and D & K loved Alfie's wrist and ankle rattles and book too.
Lovely chat, lovely food (sandwich and cake and scone platter provided by a local caterer. Delicious :-) And of course D was a hit with Jack.
All too soon it was time for this lovely little family to head home.
As I made my way inside to make up a doggy bag of goodies for them to take away, today's disaster unfolded. The bolt that fixes the right side front wheel to the wheelchair frame sheered (same thing happened just over a year ago!) Fortunately I was just at the pool room door on a flat surface, but I'd just come up the ramp to the decking at the pool and I dread to think what would have happened if I'd been going up or down that at the time!
D and I both got an enthusiastic thank you and lovely cuddles from Jack as they left. Alfie was still asleep :-)
So now I am without wheels!!
Honestly this week has been a nightmare! We've had my sore shoulder and trapped nerve, Lola losing a tooth and a tick on her lip, me getting stuck in the shower and the shower door/panel having to get fixed, Lola freaking out at the smoke alarm battery beeping and D having to abandon his round of golf to come fix it, cistern handle in the downstairs wc breaking, a crack in the car windscreen, a flat tyre on Alan's car, and now my wheels! And mercury isn't even in retrograde for another 4 days!!!
I will have to use my rotator / elbow crutches till my wheels are fixed. This won't help my shoulder! Sigh. I am hoping the wheelchair supplier will have the bolt in stock and D can take it to be fitted tomorrow morning. I am hoping he will be back early afternoon as I have a face to face GP appointment tomorrow that I've waited over a month for. Without my wheels I'm not sure I will be able to attend.
