A last minute invitation/decision to swim to the Sovereigns from OYsterhaven. After an initial bit of boat trouble (throttle jammed on at 3/4 speed) we got sorted and 10 of us swam out to the islands. We swam through the middle of these two. That was amazing, sheer cliff underwater on one side, lots of kelp and beautiful rocks. In the channel to get to these it really was the deep blue, the sun shining right down to illuminate below. Magical! After towing the broken boat home we flew over to the Old Head just on time to witness a friend pass under it. He swam a whopping 22km in 7h22mins from Sandycove Island into Courtmacsharry.
A very relaxed afternoon was spent in the shade in the garden. The mercury hit 30c here.
In the evening I went to see Gemma Hayes play at St Catherine's here in Kinsale. She was mesmerising, her voice beautiful and her band a gorgeous presence alongside her.
