Martin Parr
There was certainly a touch of the Martin Parr around the ice cream kiosk at Calgary Beach, which was on a relentless treadmill of producing ice creams for a hot and hungry queue. They kept running out of flavours and had to haul out new ones and chip away.
We went for a walk down to Haunn first thing and I managed to fall and gouge my knee and bash my elbow. Dripping with blood I went into the Haunn cottages where they were doing a changeover and mopped myself up. The first aid box in the hub provided a large enough plaster for the knee. On the way back down the track we saw a baby adder sunning itself on a rock on the track. The glorious sun meant we could see way ahead and Coll looked close by. The scent of Ladies bedstraw and meadowsweet hit us in puffs.
We went to the Dervaig village shop to buy for dinner tomorrow and then, the Piece Box being shut, we grabbed some sandwiches and went down to the beach. It was too hot to linger long over the picnic but I swam and despite the heat the water wasn’t that warm so I was glad I remembered my wetsuit even though I’d forgotten my swimsuit
Saw @Tresnish who came to ask about my injury ( word moves fast) and then we went up to see Charlotte and Athol before whisking Charlotte out to a really lovely dinner at Croft 3. The light over Ben More made the mountain top hyper lit and softly glowing as the sun finally started to fade around 10pm. We ate Lobstor niçoise which was as delicious as you could imagine with fresh caught lobster and Croft grown beans.
Drove back into an almost mystical sunset, the sea still glowing at nearly 11pm
