Paths on Eildon hills

A second Saturday, and the walk was on the Eildon Hills. We met at Waverley for the 8.42 train to Tweedbank, the far end of the Borders Railway. Tea from the new stall there; it was already hot in the sun.

Walked by the river to Melrose, past Melrose Abbey, in welcome shade before we started on the hill. River view ..
The path up Eildon Hill North is steep, and also very loose, so it was more of a climb than a walk in places. We didn't stay up there long; picnics were at the foot of the hill, where @lovenature joined us. Blip is from the top of the Mid Hill, looking S to the Wester Hill and beyond. It was clear, there was a light breeze, and the hottest I've been in a while.
Walked back to R's car; she dropped me at the station in plenty of time for the return train, which wasn't as well cooled as the outbound service.

Edinburgh had had some sea haar, so was much cooler; I had a rare second shower and all the clothes went in the wash when I got in.

This morning (Sunday) the north of the city is socked in with haar and it's 10C cooler out than it was yesterday at this time.
