Saturday: Helios
To Osterley House this morning to see the Helios installation. It was quite something. It’s a sculpture of the sun, made up of 400,000 images. Each centimetre represents 2,000km of the sun’s surface which is just mind-boggling. To help get our mind round it we spent some time lolling around on beanbags, staring at the sculpture. Just to clarify - the beanbags were provided, just in case you thought we’d taken our own.
After an iced coffee in the shade we popped into Osterley Bookshop. Sadly it’s closing in September so they are selling off all their goods. We didn’t see anything today that we fancied but will head back a few times before they close for good. While we were there, a customer kept asking the staff for various books but then adding that he didn’t know who it was by. Each time he said that we’d call the name of the author from across the shop. I’m not sure if he found us helpful or just supremely irritating.
Watched the Ladies Wimbledon Final this afternoon. We’d barely sat down and it was all over. I did feel for Anisimova.
