Marmalade hoverfly

Watered the pots before it got too hot in the garden. The wildflower patch is alive with insects. 
Working from home today so that I can be in for the technician to have a look at our bed headboard. Strange backwards writing has become visible on the pale grey fabric. I think it is the cutting out instructions that have bled through the material. 
The appointment was from 12 onwards and it seemed he was on his way about 3.30 but then did not turn up. I had to go to plasma donation after work and S had to take T to the train station. Of course, he rang when I was in the donation chair at 5.30 and said he'd be there shortly. He'd been at the end of the road when he'd had to go home for a family emergency.  Luckily J was at home and was able to let him in, with S returning shortly afterwards. I got home after another successful donation just in time to see him packing up. 
He had a go at cleaning the writing by dabbing and then with a wet hoover but, if anything, it now looks worse as he's pulled more of the pigment through from the reverse side. He's going to report back and say that a replacement headboard is needed. Let's hope that the company agree and that the same colour and material are still available. 

Played cribbage and dominoes with S and J in the garden when it had cooled down a bit. Retreated indoors when we started to get bitten. S picked up T from the station after a night out at a pub quiz. 
Very hot and difficult to sleep.
