The Golden Eagle Hotel

We watched a video made in 1970 about the construction of Cumbernauld, the town of the future. In 1967 it was awarded the American Institute of Architects award for World’s Best New Town. In 2001 it won the Carbuncle Award for “Most Dismal Town in Scotland”. The Golden Eagle Hotel symbolises the downward trend as it was demolished in 1983.
