First of Many
I hope!
Clematis 'Bill Mackenzie' .... allegedly. I planted one in the Norwich garden about thirty years ago and it did really well, still growing strongly and flowering profusely when I moved on in 2019. It was one of the first flowers I blipped way back in 2011. It can make a huge plant as I found before. The one I bought last year is certainly of the same 'tribe' but I'm not sure it has the thick, orange peel like petals of the named form. It's probably seed raised, so not identical but hopefully, in time it will cover itself in flowers. These should continue into the autumn and be followed by fluffy seed heads.
A very hot day. I mostly stopped indoors doing chores and tidying. Two loads of laundry washed and quickly dried outside. As it got cooler this evening I did a little weeding in the shade in the front garden before taking Meg for a walk. A friend had flagged up that it was music night at the Magic Lantern cinema. Every Friday there is live music in the foyer bar area, tonight Gig-L, a girl band who played light rock. An invitation to go was the kick I needed and it was a good evening. I left a little early to collect J&J's son - another J - and three friends from the train station and run them to their caravan.
