That Will Do!

Sea Spurrey

My day turned out better than anticipated, as the repeat eye test, to determine why the new glasses were disastrously wrong (see 10th June) indicated that my sight is actually ok, just the left eye needing a bit more help . I don't fully understand the details but suffice to say that when I did the Straight Line Alignment Test (vertical and horizontal) last time I was having a bad day, today I was fine. Or something. Anyway new lenses are on order and we'll see how they work. Being told the problem was 'due to cataract' was therefore totally wrong and does make one question how glibly excuses are made. I do have developing cataracts but they are not yet interfering with vision.

So I departed a happier bunny, Mr Flum collected me and we drove to Smeaton's Nursery Tearoom for lunch with the obligatory bird helping clear up the crumbs (robin, this time, see extra) after which we drove to Whitesands Bay.

It was a perfect day for families to play on the beach and, if brave enough, in the sea; we walked on the rocks a while then moved to Barns Ness for more pottering.  I noted several flowers typical if the area but one I was unfamiliar with is my blip. A pretty little white flower with pink-edged petals tucked into the rim of tussocky mats on the shore near the lighthouse seems to be Sea Spurrey.  Thanks to BikerBear for hosting Flower Friday.

In the extra collage also a tortoiseshell butterfly enjoying a stand of marjoram close to the abandoned bungalow; my phone could not pick up the common blue also seen.
