Next week the detours
will play havoc with my jaunts

I was out the door just after 6 with Riverside Park as my target. We had been forecast a sunny day, but it is not turning out that way.
I parked near the tennis courts to find a pickle ball game already in session. I walked by the Uji Friendship Garden to discover some marmots had taken up residence by the little foot bridge.
I walked up the Rivers Trail towards the Overlander Bridge and paid my respects to the marmots at the Celtic Stones.
I got my long shots of my mountains and the Overlander Bridge. There is a bit of river shore now exposed. I was surprised to find a paddleboarder working his way upstream. An international student was lost at that point last weekend. He'd been playing volleyball with friends on the beach. His body is still missing. The river is murky, cold and fast-moving. The paddleboarder does not have a life jacket.
I made my last stop at the rose garden, now in rather sad shape. The blooms are over their best and I see lots of insect damage on the leaves. I was hard-pressed to find some suitable blooms.
New construction with detours will be appearing in the city next week. I will have to adjust my jaunts to manage it all.
I am home today with some errands to run in the afternoon.
