The Smiths

Some time in the last couple of weeks, I saw an advert/reference/mention to an exhibition at @barcelonanq* of single and album covers used by The Smiths.

So I suggested to The Minx that we pop into Manchester, this morning, and take a look, thinking that there might also be coffee and some general mooching around the northern quarter to be enjoyed along the way. Which, indeed, there was.

To be honest, the exhibition wasn't that exciting, although it was nice to amble up and down, looking at the photos and wondering at how long ago all this took place. The Smiths split up 26 years ago, yet I was born only 21 years after the second world war. When I grew up, the war seemed like ancient history but now, thinking how recently it feels that The Smiths split up, I realise just how immediate the war was to the generations above me.
