Symmetry

There’s something pleasing about the symmetry of the patterns on these boxes.

A few weeks ago, I ordered some smart light switches. Most of the fittings in this house are brass (or brass coloured), and that’s not a popular finish when it comes to switches and sockets. Most people seem to have the standard British white finish, while chrome or stainless steel is also popular, and therefore available to buy.

I can’t afford to replace all my sockets and lights, so I take advantage of offers on the brass versions when they appear.  A few weeks ago, I ordered two new light switches and two new sockets. I received the four items I ordered, but have been back and forth with the company because they sent two of the wrong things. They have been very good and will be replacing them.  Two of these boxes are being returned - hopefully tomorrow - when I can reach the right shop for the DPD parcel return.

It was the end of the sprint at work and the close of one phase of our deliverables. My next project is with another team. Today was my last morning scrum meeting with some of the people I’ve been working with for the last eighteen months. I will still have some work for them and will occasionally join their meetings, but it’s the end of a daily routine that has been a staple of my mornings. The new team is not yet fully engaged on the work I am managing, so I will be attending meetings while they complete other tasks. I may feel somewhat useless for a few weeks.

We couldn’t decide about dinner. So, PY picked up some yellow-sticker reduced burgers from the Co-op. I feel like I should have made more effort. At least my train is now booked to see Mum for her birthday.
