Barnard Castle Castle

Yeah, that wasn’t a typo - Barnard Castle is the name of the town and this is the ruined castle at the top of the town!
Kevin took us on a drive to the Teesdale Valley, to have a lovely peaceful walk in the woods and by the River Tees, where David and Kevin had fun skimming stones, while I took off my shoes and socks and paddled in the refreshing water with little minnows tickling my feet. I felt like I was being given a very gentle pedicure!

When we got home, Kevin took us out for a drink at a pub in Darlington to meet his friends, Andy and Sandra. Afterwords, Kevin cooked a comforting spicy stew with many delicious and healthy ingredients.
We’re all tired after our day out and will sleep well.
I’m trying not to think about it, but we are moving off tomorrow to explore the Peak District next. It has been nice to slow down and be in the same place for a while.
