Marmalade vodka

End of the day treat. I’d forgotten how nice it tasted. I should try serving it with a slice of orange. Not thought of that before. 

I worked hard on the garden today and then prepared burgers and salad for six of us. A visit from some old friends. JW and I used to have a beer most Wednesday nights whilst our kids had supper together, starting a quarter of a century ago. Funny to think of it. Our favourite tipple was a beer called Bitter and Twisted. Funnily enough she moved to Scotland and lives near the brewery. 

Between times I read more of Colm Toibin’s fictional account of the life of Henry James. He sounds like an intense, selfish and painful person. But the book is very good.
