The year's first sunflower
J's first sunflower is now in full bloom; more are coming.
I was pleased to catch up with a bit of potting. Everything is running very late, after a delayed and slow start in the spring, but I've now potted the gazanias and cosmos I grew from seed into their tubs for the patio. I'd hoped to make a little border below the patio wall where the cosmos was to go, but I don't have time at present. I also separated out the tray of beetroot seedlings, which are now growing on a bit before going into the garden. We've had much better results this way than we did from direct sowing. There won't be a lot of vegetables this year, but the potatoes are coming along nicely and the squashes, courgettes and cucumbers planted out a couple of weeks ago are growing. There's also lots of rhubarb waiting for me to make chutney.
