A visit to Little Sparta
Had a lovely day with eight friends on a trip to Little Sparta, at the far side of The Pentlands in a place called Dunsyre.
For those that don't know this is a beautiful garden created by Ian Hamilton-Finlay, starting in 1967. The garden holds his work in a naturalistic landscape, stretching gently into the beautiful surrounding moorland. His work has many consistent themes-play on words, latin texts, plant/tree names, poetry, the sea, boats, the list goes on.
We returned across the fields to the carpark in pouring rain, but it didn't matter.
Later on we took Mum for a drive-Braid Hills and the Observatory.
