AU RESERVOIR
I left Hartlepool in sunshine, went to the garden centre where it started to rain quite determinedly, abandoned my plan to go to the nearby quarry to see whether there are any marbled white butterflies left, and got to the reservoir in light rainfall which stopped about 10 minutes later. I spotted the willow warbler flitting about between bushes and seed heads, watched some geese, herons and great crested grebes as well as the swallows and house martins, saw nobody else at all until I got back to the car park, and returned to Hartlepool - about four miles away - where it hadn't rained at all.
Title also alludes to the Mapp and Lucia books by E.F. Benson.
