La vida de Annie

"please interact thoughtfully"

...it urges on the sign in the bottom right (written incidentally by #1 son - best viewed in the enlarged version). I went to meet him for lunch where he works in FACT, Liverpool, and was amazed by the Bernie Lubell interactive exhibits previously enjoyed by smithski and MrSmith. This piece, A Theory of Entanglement, requires two people to pedal together at different speeds on wooden bicycles, while others sit on a sofa in the cafe (which engages the clutch mechanism). The correct combination of actions will result in the slow crocheting of a giant knot from the knitting drum overhead. The knot will grow longer and gradually descend to the floor.

We did our bit by eating lunch sitting on the designated sofa (on springs so a little unsettling), but I was not tempted by "The Synapse Sweetly Singing", aka the coffin enjoyed by smithski.

On Saturday FACT will be hosting The Magnificent Revolutionary Cycling Cinema at noon. The film projection will be powered by the pedalling of the audience - how's that for eco-friendly?
