all it needs is a little mist
I was beginning to wonder if the council's promise to slightly de-mince the city centre for the Festivals would come to anything but the reconfiguration of the traffic lights is a good sign. Something similar happened shortly before each successive warping of the traffic flow across the Lothian Road/Shandwick Place/Queensferry Street junction earlier in the year. I think there was possibly a possibility of the shop-side of the Princes Street pavement being widened slightly but it would be nice if the south pavement was re-opened so that anyone with a brain and ears doesn't have to walk past the shameful tat shops continually playing bad pipe music far too loudly.
My ears and brain were further abused today by their abuser of the past few days, especially cruel when I thought the end was in sight. Hopefully tomorrow morning will see completion and an email breaking things down simply enough should hopefully require no further face-to-face clarification and re-explanation. I managed to escape this afternoon by having an appointment at the other side of town but it was an escape by the narrowest of margins, the actions of placing flask in bag, rubbish in bin, papers in desk, pencil in drawer and hovering my fingers over the logging-out keys apparently not being enough of an indication that I intended to flee. A small finger-bell is perhaps in order; I have a couple spare from a failed attempt to create a boss¹ warning system last year by stringing little tinkling bells underneath his chair so that when he pushed himself about in order to creep up behind people he could be easily heard.
