Life is just a....
Bowl of cherries !

I never thought I'd hear my self say it but I think I preferred that version to the Judy Garland one.
Today I headed back up to Craigie's and picked up my cherries, delicious they are too! I picked up some raspberries too.
My next stop was to Emi, the tailor I discovered a few weeks ago. I've had everything I can think of shortened or otherwise adapted. She's so nice and was so helpful with the Rectory curtains, I'm glad to give her the work - and not to have to do it myself to be honest
I got home in time to welcome blipper Marchmont who was borrowing some of my collection of carseats for her rather special visitors who arrive next week .
We had a chat and a cuppa as one does and dinner Craigie lemon drizzle cake.
After she left I decided to brave the raspberry patch and picked 400g of raspberries which I combined with some of those from Craigie's to made a second batch of jam. Jolly tasty it is too. I've always had a job getting raspberry jam firm enough - I don't mean set, just enough resilience to make it different to a sauce. I don't think raspberry jam ever sets unless you use pectin which I don't like doing. I'd rather use lemon juice and enjoy the additional sharpness that gives. Still, these last two batches are at just the right consistency not to run off the bread! My next task is the blackcurrants, I must get my act together with those, the fact that jelly is a two day job is what is holding me back - when am I going to find space two days running!
