Old school
As a result of our aborted trip to Cuba, we have lots of flight credits from Iberia to use before late November. For the last couple of years, our friends S and T have spent a couple of winter months in Lanzarote, and we've been convinced to give the Canaries a go. These guidebooks arrived today. We have done some research online, but there's some comfort in a paper guidebook, instead of scrabbling around on dozens of different sites trying to make sense of them. It's like one of those hop-on hop-off buses that give you a feel for the shape of a place.
I resolutely swam in the morning, while all my gym mates were whooping it up doing aquarobics in the shallow end. I think I'll succumb and join them next time -- there are plenty of other days to swim quietly.
And yoga in the evening. I did a shoulder stand for five minutes! The first unaided one for a very long time. And I almost did a plough, six inches short, but decided I wouldn't push myself too far. Very satisfying though. I couldn't have contemplated it without losing those ten kilos!
