Downstream from Murray Falls.
We set off this morning to go to the Blencoe Falls that are inland from Kennedy (just north of Cardwell) but when we called into the information centre in Cardwell, they said that the road was closed, and we had to go right up the coast to Innisfail then head inland from there. It would have been 295km from Forrest Beach instead of about 150km!! We had see the Blencoe Falls in July 2011 when we came from Mount Garnet and came out at Kennedy. The road was a mess then from the cyclone, with trees over it, and luckily there was a roading crew clearing it off, so we were able to get through that time.
I saw on the map a place called Murray Falls not too far north in the Girramay National Park, so we headed off to see them. Not a lot of water at present, so falls rather uninspiring, plus it was about midday with an overhead & harsh sun.
Still a lot of damage around from Cycone Yasi that went through in Feb 2011. Cardwell waterfront is still being rebuilt.
Packing up and heading off the Hydeaway Bay again for 7 night. Hope to stop at the cemetery on the way out for a quick photo or two.
