Lilium bulbiferum, orange lily
Most of today was spent at home, something encouraged by the rain that fell heavily for a while.
I washed a couple of (not so) waterproof jackets and then sprayed them thoroughly with Nikwax waterproofing. They are still drying out so tomorrow we'll see how they look. Since it was raining, and this was a job best done outside, I sprayed them while under the roof over the veranda at Betty's. While doing that I noticed the orange lilies (Lilium bulbiferum I think) growing there.
A bit of sorting was done, putting winter clothes away, and doing more work with the books in the Red House.
Worked a bit with beer brewing. Moved the barley wine over to another bucket, ready for bottling, and got a lot of clip-down bottles ready for sterilising and filling with beer.
In the evening the sun was shining so I took a walk past the lake towards the forest. I never reached the forest because one of our neighbours was sitting on his doorstep having a cigarette so I chatted to him for 20 minutes or so.
Once home I went up to the back of Betty's where I'd seen earlier they were a fair number of these orange lilies. They create small bulbs where the leaf grows from the stem and drop these in the autumn seeding new plants. The number in our garden has been steadily growing over the years, which is fine by us!
