The New Island

Headed to the park in between showers this afternoon and the main shot is of what I’m calling “The New Island”.
The island was previously thickly wooded with a variety of trees and bushes. Only a few trees remain and everything else that they’ve cut down is chipped and packed into special white bags for disposal.  This is to stop the spread of the Polyphagous shot-hole borer which has invaded and is killing a lot of the trees at the park.

There is another shot in extras taken from the other side which shows all the bags.
It’s sad to see the state of it all but they will be rebuilding the islands and I’m sure it will all look good when eventually finished.
Thanks to Jen for hosting Wide Wednesday this week! ; )
